Best Staff Party Ideas

Looking for ways to celebrate your team? At the end of a successful quarter or to motivate them going into the new year you may want to throw a party for your staff. But what makes an office party fun and memorable for your employees? After performing at hundreds of events for corporations and businesses I’ve put together a few ideas to take your staff party to the next level. Here are the best staff party ideas.

Change the Venue

One way for your staff to immediately recognize that the afternoon or evening is special is to hold the party at a restaurant or event venue. While your office may be gorgeous, by taking the party elsewhere all of your staff notice that the party is something that thought and time went into. Working with an experienced restaurant or venue can also be to your advantage as they are well equipped to manage the catering and other food and beverage so you don’t have to. I’ve performed at a whole slew of venues around the United States, especially in New York City. Get in touch if you’d like any recommendations.

Add Some Live Music

An excellent way to celebrate your employees and create a lively atmosphere is some live music. A funk duo, jazz trio, or upbeat pianist not only sets the tone but gives your staff who’d like to lay low something to engage with other than constant conversation. The details of your staff party are important to it’s success. Even if you don’t get live music, always have some upbeat music playing during the party. As with all things event planning, go with the best. Many can play the instrument but that doesn’t make them an expert in playing at company events. Going with a recognized and trusted music act is important here.

Make Magical Memories

My goal when performing at staff parties or employee events is not only to engage everyone in amazing mysteries, but to create incredible memories out of those moments. It’s incredibly gratifying to hear from clients months or years after an event and hear that some of the specific magic I performed is still being talked about. The sleight of hand and psychological illusion I specialize in is the tool I use to create connections with the all the folks in the room. I’ve noticed that magic is a great way to spark conversation amongst staff and employees that isn’t “work talk” and create a playful and fun atmosphere.

Alexander Boyce is a sleight of hand artist and magician whose performances have been seen at The Magic Castle, The McKittrick Hotel, The Rainbow Room, Lincoln Center and many private corporate events around the world. He’s performed at company holiday parties, staff parties, employee events, meetings, and theatrical shows in New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, Brooklyn, Long Island, and all over the United States.
